As a CWA member you are now going to be facing one the biggest decisions you'll face this year. Here is what is at stake:
SBC claims it has lost revenue and therefore its employees need to make concesions at the bargaining table. The truth is, profits were up to 8.5 billion dollars last year because of your labor and any lost revenues are because of bad strategies and decisions (over which you have no control whatsoever) by the top executives. In turn, these executives have handsomely rewarded themselves with enormous bonuses and expect to balance this out by offering you meager pay increases while shifting massive amounts of medical costs to you, your family, and those who came before you and are now retired.
To add insult to injury; SBC is unwilling to engage in meaningful negotiaitions about the future and security of your job, nor is SBC willing to cut you in on the job growth that results from acquisitions and new technology which, incidentally, they seek to export to other countries.
It can not be stated any plainer; it is time to take a stand. Your vote to authorize a strike tells the company you won't tolerate this arrogance and greed and that you'll fight to make sure they don't get away with it.
CWA urges you to vote yes. |
