November 4th was a historic day for our country and for working families. Americans elected Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States, ending eight years of failed policies and disregard for the needs of working families.

CWA members across the country spent thousands of hours going door-to-door and making phone calls for President-elect Obama and the Democratic Party.

Our work is far from over. While the results put us in a much better position than we were prior to the election, we now need to make sure that our elected officials are held accountable.  The most important piece of legislation for working Americans is the Employee Free Choice Act, which will allow millions of hard-working Americans to organize free from employer intimidation and strengthen our position at the bargaining table.

Passing the Employee Free Choice Act into law is only the first step. We need to make sure that all Americans can afford the basic right of affordable health care as prices skyrocket.
